After Mongolia weakened, territory of Ukraine was separated among different external powers in Europe, i.e, Poland, Turkey and Russia. Until 19th century, when Russia integrated and defeated two rest rivals, most of Ukraine’s territory belonged to Russian Empire. In 1922, Ukraine became one of the founding republics of Soviet Union and became republic country under socialist institution of Soviet Union. Ukraine became independent again when the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991. Since then, Ukraine started a period of transition to a market economy. However, economy of Ukraine still encounters a lot of great challenges and it is still a country having lowest income in Europe.
